Watering 

• The jade plant, being a succulent, requires very little water for its survival.
• Check the moisture of the soil by poking a small stick or your finger into the soil.
• If the topsoil feels dry upon touch, apply enough water to keep the soil moist but do not make it soggy.

Sunlight 

• Well established, large jade plants require approximately 4 hours of direct sunlight.
• Young jade plants should be kept in natural indirect sunlight as they cannot stand direct sunlight.
• The plant thrives well in the temperature range of 18 °C to 24 °C.

Repotting 

• It is suggested to not re-pot the plant for at least 2 weeks after the delivery of the plant. 
• Re-pot the plant every 2 to 3 years, i.e., when it outgrows the pot.

Fertilizer Application 

• For better uptake of nutrients provided by the fertilizer, loosen the topsoil of the plant making sure to not disturb the roots of the plant.
• After the application of the fertilizer, the plant is to be watered to ensure uniform distribution of the fertilizer.
• Use of Neem oil, Eucalyptus oil, or Citrus oil spray is advised in case of insect pest attack or other diseases.
• Don’t feed the fertilizer in winters as it is a slow growing season.

Propagation 

• The plant can be easily propagated through stem cuttings. The cuttings can be rooted in water, after which it can be shifted to a pot with a good drainage mechanism.

Things to Avoid

• Avoid over watering the plant. Water only when the soil feels dry on touch or in appearance. Over watering will lead to drooping of the leaves of the plant.
• Avoid keeping it in low light conditions with excessive humidity and low temperature as it may affect the growth of the plant.

Probable Issues

• Yellowing of leaves- This can be due to overwatering of the plant. The jade plant, being a succulent, requires very little water to survive, and therefore overwatering may affect the plant’s health.
• White spots on leaves- Low light conditions with excessive humidity and low temperature as it may affect the growth of the plant, leading to the development of white spots. These white spots are due to a condition named powdery mildew and can be treated with the spray of a mild mixture of vinegar and baking soda.
• Drooping of the plant-For this you need to fix a watering schedule for the plant along with keeping a check on its water requirement.  Overwatering may lead to drooping of its leaves and underwatering may cause the leaves to shrivel up.
