Proper care for anthurium is easy to do as long as you provide a few key elements for the plant. Keep reading to learn more about the care of anthurium Basic Anthurium Care Anthurium plants can tolerate all levels of indirect light, but anthuriums growing in low light will have fewer flowers and will grow slower. These plants cannot tolerate direct light, however, as this can burn the leaves. They grow best in bright, indirect light. Anthurium care also requires that the soil be free draining but hold some water. If you are growing this plant as a houseplant, a half-and-half mix of potting soil and orchid soil or perlite will provide the kind of soil anthuriums prefer. Outdoors, plant in a well-drained location. Anthurium plants don't like continually moist soil. Make sure to water your anthurium plant regularly, but don't over-water it. Only water your anthurium when the soil is dry to the touch. The plant is susceptible to root rot, so too much water can cause the roots to die. If you allow the plant to become too dry in a pot, it will slow down its growth and the rootball will be difficult to re-wet. The plant only needs to be fertilized with a one-quarter-strength fertilizer once every three to four months. Watering: Overwatering is the chief cause of disease or loss of plant life. Do ensure that you don't overwater them. To get plants to show off their richly colored leaves, it is best to wipe them clean with moist tissue or cloth once every month. In drier months, misting them a few times a week could help improve humidity around the plant, helping them flourish.
Fertilising: Feeding your Plant a few times a year is a good way to get them to stay healthy. Give them some organic liquid fertilizer once or twice a year. Dilute it in water as described on the pack and add a little to each pot as part of your watering routine. If you are using a chemical fertiliser do ensure that you keep it away from the plant and its base.
Light:As a tropical plant that grows in the humid bright shade of tropical forests, this plant prefers similar conditions when grown as a houseplant. It dislikes full sunlight, preferring bright, indirect sun, such as that offered by north-facing windows. It will also thrive under fluorescent lights.
